Photoshop Elements? Is it good? 10 points !!!!?

ok. So I’ve been wanting to get photoshop.
I want to be able to do backgrounds for myspace,facebook twitter blogs etc. And ofcourse fic my pictures. I’ve never had photoshop before so I need some help.
I was thinkingof Photoshop elements if so wich one? I don’t want to spend so much since I’m just getting started,And do they sell a book or something where they explain how to edit photos and do backgrounds. .

If you have other tip please tell me.
Oh yeah. . Can you work with photoshop on a laptop? or do I only need to get a mouse?

You start with the basics and work up.
PhotoShop Elements 4 is the cheapest and the best for the money. Great place to start. It will do way more than just myspace type editing and is relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it.

One bit of caution: ALWAYS MAKE A DUPLICATE before MAKING ANY CHANGES TO YOUR ORIGINAL. See > File > Duplicate. (close original as a safety back-up).

Thanks to the recommendations from those on here I recently acquired Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and have been nothing less than happy with it. Works well with easy navigation and offers tips and tutorials directly on there to help you try different things with your images. I have seen it go for $75, other places for around $100. With tax I paid $81 at Best Buy.

I would certainly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to be overwhelmed by the full version of Photoshop.
